thoughtful. helps you make wishlists and share them with the people you love. We keep only what we need to do that, we never sell it, and we never show you ads. This page explains what we keep and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
thoughtful. is made in Lagos, Nigeria. We are responsible for the information described here, under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023. You can reach us at hello@thoughtful.ng.
What we keep
- Your account: your name and email address. If you use a password, it is stored scrambled, so not even we can read it.
- If you sign in with Google: Google tells us your name and email address, and confirms it's you. We don't get your Google password, contacts, files or anything else.
- Your wishlists: the titles, items, notes, links, prices and photos you add.
- Simple counts: how many times a shared list has been opened, so you can see that friends have looked. We don't record who opened it.
- Reports: if someone reports a list, we keep the reason and any note they wrote.
Why we keep it
- To run your account and keep you signed in.
- To show your lists to you, and to the people you choose to send a link to.
- To keep thoughtful. safe, for example by looking into reports and stopping misuse.
- To send emails you need, such as a password reset. No marketing emails unless you ask for them.
Who can see your lists
A list is private until you share it. When you share, anyone with the link can see that list, so send it only to people you trust. You can stop sharing or delete a list at any time, and the link stops working straight away.
Who helps us run thoughtful.
We use a few trusted services, and they handle your information only on our instructions:
- Supabase, which stores accounts, lists and photos.
- Vercel, which hosts the website.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Some of these services store information outside Nigeria. Where they do, we rely on their published safeguards to protect it. We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete a list, its items and photos are deleted with it. If you ask us to close your account, we delete your account and lists within 30 days, apart from a short record of any safety action we took, which we keep only as long as we need to.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also object to how we use it. Write to hello@thoughtful.ng and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
thoughtful. is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian's permission.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
